Hello reader! Finally I am back! *woohoo* I’ve been on a hiatus mode over the past months and was not able to update regularly because of school works, which I had to prioritize first, but… More
It was last April 25 when the #ABCsBookChallenge lettering challenge started. The lettering challenge will last for 21 days. For each day, there is a lettering prompt for every week until June 20 that is needed to be hand-lettered with the assigned font styles, whether it be Serif, Sans Serif, Script. This challenge aims to improve the lettering skills of each person who will join the challenge. It is hosted by one of the most famous letterer in the country who is none other than Abbey Sy. She is also the author of the book ABCs of Hand Lettering.
Here are my entries for the 21 days #ABCsBookChallenge:
I chose letter ‘Z’ because my first name starts with it which is ‘Zuellene’.
After the sixth day of the lettering challenge, I have been lagged and late for the challenge because I had to attend my summer classes and other responsibilities *hihi*, but after a couple of weeks, I encouraged myself not to give up and finish what I have started. I also did start with a new theme, not really the theme just the background of my posts (not only for the challenge, but for my whole Instagram feed too) , which is having white as the background.
So what’s my favorite pastime? Other than writing on my planner and doing calligraphy, watching Korean Dramas has been always my favorite pastime. I just love watching their dramas but sometimes variety shows. Some K-Drama story lines are unique and some are not. Mostly, I watch Korean Dramas if my favorite actresses are there, but if not, I do consider first if the drama has a nice rating and has an interesting plot no matter what the genre is, I’ll definitely watch it even if my fave K-actresses are not part of the cast. *wink wink*
To be honest, I’m a frustrated bookworm. I do really want to read a lot of books, but I when I start to read novels, I can barely finish the first ten chapters of it, like I can only last for two chapters and that’s it. The only novel that I’ve finished was ‘Perks of Being a Wallflower’ by Stephen Chbosky.
As I remember, I’ve first watched the movie ‘Troy’ when I was in third year high school for our Literature class. At that time, we were discussing about Greek Mythology, in which Homer’s Iliad is so much related to it.
Adele will be always my favorite singer. Even though most of her songs are sad love songs, I don’t feel any sadness while listening to it, but honestly Adele’s songs gives all the feels. I really wish that Adele will come to the Philippines soon, I’ll definitely do anything just to make it to her concert.
And just like that, I have finally finished the lettering challenge. It was fun and difficult at the same time, because I have to think on what concept or theme shall I come up with the assigned prompt for a particular day, but this allowed me to keep on experimenting and made me squeeze more of my creative juices. The #ABCsBookChallenge also made me go out of my comfort zone. From the challenge, I’ve discovered that I can also make lettering variations and style *of course with the help of the book* rather than just mere scripts. This challenge also made me realize how great is our Filipino Calligraphers/Letterers community. Even though the challenge have just ended, may we continue to inspire one another and always keep on making a progress and like Ms. Abbey Sy said ‘Always Be Creating’.
A NEW WAY TO SHARE ONE’S CREATIONS
I mainly use Instagram for posting my creations like, weekly planner layouts, DIY crafts, Calligraphy works and etc., so I decided to make a blog here at WordPress. It took me some quite time if I could really make a blog, what are the things I should do, what will I am going to post.
That’s when I decided to conquer the world of blogging making my hobbies/interests as the main topic: planning, crafts, and calligraphy. I was also greatly inspired into blogging from the planner and calligraphy community at Instagram, because most of them owns a blog too.
